Ghost of Yotei Is About To Deliver A Lot Of New Content

If you thought you were done with Ghost of Yotei, you might want to clear your schedule, because Sucker Punch is getting ready to drag players back into its PS5 open world with more than a simple New Game+ switch. A free update arriving on November 24 will pack in fresh cosmetics, a dedicated merchant, new Photo Mode tools, and several other tweaks that make a return trip to Ezo very tempting.

Have you already seen the credits roll in Ghost of Yotei? Even so, you will soon have plenty of excuses to jump back into Atsu’s journey and Sucker Punch’s open world, as the studio has announced a free update that brings new cosmetic items, brand new weapons, a special merchant, and a New Game+ mode among other additions. The team is not dragging its feet either, since this patch is aimed directly at the PS5 version, and the announcement makes it clear that the download is just around the corner.

According to details shared on the official PlayStation blog, Ghost of Yotei will receive its free update on November 24. In practice, this means that players who want to revisit the stunning landscapes of Ezo will be able to do so within days, keeping everything they earned during their first playthrough and facing a higher difficulty level. As in many other games, New Game+ unlocks after you finish the main campaign and turns the whole adventure into a tougher challenge. As the Sony website puts it, “Yes, that means it’s time to take a gun to a sword fight, with all the armor, skills, and weapons from your first playthrough available from the start of the game,” so you begin with every piece of gear and every ability you previously unlocked.

New Game+ is far from the only highlight in Sucker Punch’s free patch. PlayStation also confirms the arrival of a new currency called Ghost Flowers, which can be traded with a dedicated merchant for more than 30 extra cosmetic items. These include new armor sets and weapon dyes, as well as 10 new talismans that further refine your build. On top of that, an additional upgrade tier will be available for your existing armor and weapon sets, giving veteran players even more room to push their stats.

It is also worth noting that Sucker Punch has invested time and resources into broader accessibility options and tools that let you replay content after completing the main story. The update introduces settings that help players tailor the experience to their needs and return to specific activities even once the credits have rolled. And fans who love freezing the action for perfect screenshots are in for a treat, since Photo Mode is being expanded with new options that make it easier to capture the atmosphere of Ezo and the visual flair of Ghost of Yotei.

Ghost of Yotei Is Also Getting Legends Mode In 2026

Ghost of Yotei has enjoyed a very strong launch, and everything suggests that Sucker Punch is committed to keeping players engaged with Atsu’s journey for months to come. Commercially, the open world has performed impressively, reaching 3.3 million units sold in its first 32 days, a figure that PlayStation itself highlighted in its latest earnings report.

And Sucker Punch’s work on the game is not stopping here. Beyond the main adventure and the content arriving on November 24, Ghost of Yotei is also set to receive Legends Mode in 2026. Just as with Ghost of Tsushima, this will be a free-to-play experience that folds multiplayer mechanics into the core game and offers a different angle on its world. As we move closer to the new year, the studio is expected to share more information about this mode and to confirm its final release date, giving fans yet another reason to keep the game installed.
