Battlefield 6: The New Update Brings Back Something from the Open Beta!

The major 1.1.2.0 update has arrived for Electronic Arts’ hugely successful shooter, bringing a wave of new features and tweaks across all platforms.

Rolled out yesterday on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, the massive Battlefield 6 1.1.2.0 update delivers fresh content and more than 160 fixes, including a key change to aim assist, which now behaves the same way it did during the open beta. The patch also marks the second phase of the game’s first season, introducing the new Southern California–themed Eastwood map, available in multiple variants across all official modes. Eastwood arrives alongside new weapons, such as the DB-12 Shotgun and the M357 Trait Sidearm, plus a new feature, Battle Pickups, which will arm players in select modes with extremely powerful weapons that come with strictly limited ammunition.

Beyond new content, the latest Battlefield 6 update makes substantial adjustments to aim assist. Responding to community feedback, DICE has reverted the system to the feel of the open beta, after the changes in the launch version sparked heavy criticism. Returning to the earlier behavior is likely to go down well with a lot of players who preferred the more responsive aiming.

The aim assist overhaul is just one of more than 160 individual changes bundled into the new Battlefield 6 patch. The update also improves controller input latency and bot responsiveness, fine-tunes weapon accuracy, and brings notable refinements to gadgets, vehicles, maps, and modes, along with a broad range of other fixes. Players who want the full rundown can dive into the official patch notes for every last detail.

Ultimately, the message is clear: the developers are taking long-term support for the game seriously. Battlefield 6 is a live-service title, and it recently added RedSec, its battle royale mode, which we already covered back when it was still just a rumor. Together, these updates should help keep interest in what many consider a major comeback for the franchise going strong well into the future.
