Cooperative Lovecraftian psychological horror in the middle of a cursed jungle – that is the core promise of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, which has just received a new gameplay trailer confirming a summer 2026 release window on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Over the last few years, several co-op horror games have tried to put friendships under serious pressure. Many players will immediately think of Outlast Trials, but there are still very few titles that directly blend constant tension with Lovecraft-inspired horror, and that is exactly where The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu steps in. This game drops you into a jungle that slowly starts to toy with your mind, turning the entire experience into a psychological exam that you are supposed to take with friends.
During the November 20 Xbox Partner Preview, ACE Team unveiled a fresh gameplay trailer for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, confirming that the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in summer 2026. You do not need to watch the full video to feel how strong H. P. Lovecraft’s influence is on the atmosphere. The title is designed for up to four players, who must carefully select weapons and equipment before venturing into the cursed jungle.
The key pillars of The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu are survival, treasure hunting and reaching a mysterious underground city. From a gameplay point of view, the title mixes exploration, equipment management, and survival-focused decision-making under a thick layer of psychological horror. As you move deeper into the jungle, your perception becomes more and more distorted, and the line between reality and illusion starts to disappear. Visions grow stronger, paranoia ramps up, and at certain moments, an ally can suddenly feel like a threat, which is one of the most compelling hooks of this Nacon-published project.
Another Cthulhu game
If you are drawn to Lovecraftian horror with cooperative elements, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu should definitely be on your radar. It is not the only game of this kind that has been announced, though. Around six months ago, during Nacon Connect 2025, the publisher also revealed Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss. This first-person psychological horror adventure, developed in Unreal Engine 5, is set in 2053 and casts you as Noa, who is sent to explore the depths of the Pacific Ocean and ends up discovering a mysterious city.
Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss is also planned for a 2026 launch on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The developers promise an extremely immersive atmosphere, next-gen visuals, and a story that tightly weaves science fiction and cosmic horror together. In other words, if you like the idea of sharing the fear in a Lovecraft-inspired universe, 2026 is shaping up to be a very busy year.
