A game in the style of Mass Effect that will be at the last major video game event of 2025? Yes!
During Hasbro’s financial report, Fred Wightman, Hasbro’s vice president of investor relations, confirmed that the company has several announcements planned for The Game Awards in December. Among them is news about Exodus, a sci-fi RPG developed by Archetype Entertainment. According to Wightman, the game is intended to reinforce Hasbro’s commitment to innovative digital gaming experiences. The game was announced two years ago at The Game Awards 2023.
Exodus is an epic new sci-fi action-adventure RPG franchise by Archetype Entertainment, an Austin-based studio established as a division of the game developer and publisher Wizards of the Coast. The studio is led by veteran AAA developers from BioWare, Naughty Dog, 343 Industries, and more. Set in a brand-new sci-fi universe created in collaboration with top sci-fi authors, Exodus delivers a next-gen, narrative-driven experience that combines cinematic storytelling, broad player agency, and modern AAA gameplay. The story layers action with deep emotional impact as players face the consequences of time dilation on their choices. This creates unpredictable outcomes affecting their loved ones, legacy, and entire civilization for generations.
In Exodus, humanity has fled a dying Earth and found a new home in a hostile galaxy. Here, we are the underdogs fighting for survival. As the Traveler, you are humanity’s last hope. Your mission is to steal alien weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe and humanity’s greatest enemy. But there’s a catch: time dilation. As travelers on interstellar missions, your days are decades back home. The sacrifices you make to protect your loved ones have unpredictable consequences that change your world and reshape the future. When you return home, you confront the consequences of your choices. In Exodus, the outcome of those choices manifests on a massive scale, compounding over generations.
Time dilation escalates the emotional impact of your story-driven choices like never before. Traveling on interstellar missions at the edge of lightspeed, time moves differently—days for you can be years, decades, or even centuries for those back home. The world you fight so hard to save moves on without you. It changes and evolves while you are left behind. In your absence, friends and family grow old and change while you remain the same, forcing you to exist outside of time. As the Traveler, you navigate the stars on missions to steal alien weapons and technology from the most powerful beings in the universe, including humanity’s greatest enemy: the Celestials. These remnants are used to fight a destructive force that threatens the entire galaxy, including your homeworld. Through exploration, you gain an understanding of your universe, the Celestials, and your connection to the fate of humanity.
As humanity’s savior, you will lead a diverse group of companions in your fight. Many of them have their own quests and romance paths. They are willing to brave unfathomable danger and stare into the abyss at your side. They are ready to join you in facing whatever arises. They are not just brave soldiers; they are genetically engineered savants, punk mech pilots, and geniuses cursed with alien viruses. In Exodus, you have the freedom to customize your experience, including your character, progression, combat style, and companions. With each mission, you grow more powerful, progressing from a lowly salvager to humanity’s last hope. As you infiltrate dangerous alien strongholds, you must decide which combat tactics and strategies to use to exploit your enemy’s weaknesses.
Exodus is coming to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. The release date may be announced during The Game Awards.
