Capcom has not given up on the latest installment of the Monster Hunter franchise, and the Japanese company wants the public to experience it as well.
One of the most significant criticisms of Monster Hunter Wilds when it was released earlier this year was that it wasn’t challenging enough. This wasn’t just the opinion of veteran players. However, the game’s producer claims that this problem has been solved and is encouraging former players to return. At the PlayStation Partner Awards Japan Asia event, Yuya Tokuda spoke about balancing the game for new and veteran players. Since its release in February, the game has received several updates that added more content and a revamped endgame, making it more challenging. Although the update cycle is not yet complete, and more content is expected before the major expansion, Tokuda believes the low difficulty issue experienced at launch has been resolved.
“We analyzed what kind of places beginners were stuck in, including Monster Hunter: World. We worked on these issues to make it easier for new users to overcome obstacles, such as reaching certain monsters or crafting specific types of armor. Additionally, we adopted as many new beneficial elements as possible for both beginners and existing users, such as Focus Mode. As a result of making the game easier to beat, even for new players and those who could not beat it before, I think the difficulty curve was lacking for existing users. If you beat the game immediately after its release and stop playing, I would appreciate it if you could pick it up again,” said the producer.
As they say, first impressions last a lifetime. It’s understandable that many people finished Monster Hunter Wilds and never returned due to its low challenge level and performance issues, which still have not been fixed. Hopefully, Capcom will continue developing the game and improving the experience. The new open-world gameplay has significantly modernized the experience and is worth trying.
