Forza Motorsport (8) has reached a point many expected, and the developers are now turning their attention to another project.
During the Tokyo Game Show, Playground Games and Turn10 officially announced the next chapter in the Forza franchise: Forza Horizon 6. Set in Japan, the new installment is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC. Alongside this announcement came disappointing news for fans of Forza Motorsport, which will no longer receive new content updates.
This information was revealed in a lengthy blog post published on the official Forza website, summarizing the past year with community highlights and a retrospective look at updates for Forza Horizon 5 and Forza Motorsport.
The studios explained their decision by stating that they want to fully focus on the development of Forza Horizon 6. As the team is committed to delivering the best possible experience with the new title in 2026, they do not plan to introduce new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes for Forza Motorsport.
That said, the game will not be abandoned entirely. Online servers will remain active, special events and competitions will continue to be organized, and previously released featured tours and reward cars will return on a monthly basis until all content becomes available.
Players can therefore still look forward to the new year’s races and will have another chance to earn reward cars they may have missed the first time around. The Forza Motorsport series has traditionally focused on simulation, while Forza Horizon leans more toward an arcade-style experience, making it reassuring to know that servers and in-game events are not going away anytime soon.
In the meantime, Turn10 and Playground Games face the challenge of meeting both player expectations and their own ambitions with Forza Horizon 6. According to the latest rumors, the first half of 2026 should reveal whether the new installment manages to live up to its goals.
