The franchise’s producer made a statement suggesting that Konami may be getting carried away.
The Silent Hill franchise experienced a major resurgence with the release of the 2024 Silent Hill 2 Remake, which many consider to be even better than the original released in 2001. Since then, Konami has focused on the future of the series and is now fully committed to it. This year, Konami released Silent Hill f, which was also very well received. Building on this success, the producer of the series says their goal is to release a new Silent Hill game every year while maintaining quality. Famitsu published a new interview in which several developers were asked about their plans for 2026. Silent Hill producer Motoi Okamoto said their goal is to release one game in the franchise every year.
Despite the annual releases, Okamoto said they want to maintain quality. Konami has already announced several titles, including the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall and a remake of the original 1999 PS1 game, which has not been ported to other platforms since its release, except for a visual novel-style adaptation released only in Japan for the GBA. Silent Hill Townfall is expected to be released in early 2026, while the Bloober Team remake of Silent Hill 1 is expected in 2027. Additionally, the team has stated that they intend to innovate with each release.
Fans will be delighted that the franchise is finally receiving the attention it has long deserved from Konami. Silent Hill 2 Remake sold 2.5 million copies. If Konami continues to deliver, the franchise could evolve beyond its legendary status. However, the IP could quickly become exhausted. Call of Duty releases annually and has featured questionable entries for quite some time. Assassin’s Creed followed a similar path before Ubisoft eventually took notice.
