Premium Stories on One Platform: Films, Series and Curated Collections in CANAL+’s Early-Year Lineup

MOVIE NEWS – CANAL+ is kicking off 2026 with premium entertainment: big-budget feature films, brand-new CANAL+ Original series, and carefully curated thematic picks for viewers who don’t just want to watch stories, but live them. Everything is available in one place, with quality and editorial, intentional selection at the center of the experience.

With the CANAL+ app’s December launch, several headline titles became available at once. CANAL+ Originals The Sentinels (Les Sentinelles) and Play Nice explore timely social issues, moral dilemmas, and high-tension human situations through strong characters. For film fans, the hard-hitting Civil War has arrived, while the darker, politically charged The Moloch Files can also pull plenty of viewers to their screens.

New Arrivals in the CANAL+ Library

The CANAL+ library keeps expanding with new series and films. The Gold revisits a criminal case that caused a major stir, while The Institute builds a slow, oppressive tension as a claustrophobic thriller – a must for Stephen King fans. Sound of Freedom is a drama based on true events that raises serious moral questions. Conflict and Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant examine the consequences of modern warfare and political decision-making – the latter directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

A strongly character-driven crime series also joins the lineup: American Rust: Broken Justice, led by Jeff Daniels, shows how the past presses into the present. The Boy Who Never Was keeps the tension alive with a mysterious story that unfolds slowly.

Royal Intrigue and Scandals

A bit of royal sparkle is always welcome: CANAL+ also offers several series that take viewers into the world of royal courts. Many will recognize The Tudors, a glossy story of power, ambition, and betrayal. Meanwhile A Very English Scandal, A Very Royal Scandal, and A Very British Scandal draw on real events to show that behind the envy-inducing grandeur, you’ll often find human weakness, secrets, and political games.

A Movie Pick for Every Mood

The early-year film offering spans a wide range of genres. Fans of traditional TV can find plenty to watch on the CANAL+ Action channel, while binge-watchers will also be satisfied, since every title is available in the on-demand libraries as well.

Life and Flight Risk are tense dramas that focus on human vulnerability and the weight of fatal decisions. If you’re after something faster-paced, SIX and Lawless deliver classic action momentum and punchy set pieces. Uncharted is an adventure film set across exotic locations, while Paul Blart: Mall Cop offers lighter entertainment. The sci-fi thriller Predestination invites bigger questions about fate and choice, and classic action fans can also find the Bad Boys films in the lineup.

Classic Stories, Reimagined

The Epic Drama library is built for period pieces and literary adaptations. The Antiquarian brings distinctive storytelling, while the timeless classic Jane Eyre and the passionate adaptation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover both deliver strong emotional impact – and there is plenty more to choose from.

True Crime: Shocking Stories from Real Life

True-crime fans can pick from several gripping titles. The two-season Black Snow and the three-season Cold Case ask what happens when the truth finally breaks through to the surface.

Women at the Center

CANAL+ offers a wide range of films and series told through female leads. Ballerina expands the John Wick universe through a complex central character, while all four installments of Bridget Jones’s Diary use humor and self-deprecation to capture everyday challenges across different life stages.

Also available in the FilmBox library, The Worst Person in the World tells a coming-of-age story with subtle humor and painful honesty. Its star, Renate Reinsve, won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021, and director Joachim Trier has earned international recognition for sensitive, generational storytelling.

Heading to Live TV

Many live TV channels in the CANAL+ app are replayable, so you can catch your favorites even if you missed them. The recently launched CANAL+ Action channel runs 24/7 with classic and modern action films and series such as 2 Guns, S.W.A.T., and Django. The channel also carries CANAL+ premieres like The Institute, The Sentinels, and The Gold.

One of the biggest global sports events this year is the 2026 Winter Olympics, hosted by Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in February. CANAL+’s sports offering also highlights major international events and live broadcasts during this period, so viewers don’t miss the defining moments of winter sports.

CANAL+ aims for a premium level not just in content, but in experience: movies, series, sports, and live TV in a single app – anywhere, anytime, when quality downtime actually matters.
