A leak suggests LEGO is preparing a new set for the end of the year, aimed squarely at veteran gamers.
Reports claim Sony and LEGO will release a new PlayStation 1-themed LEGO set during the 2026 holiday season, priced at $160 – more than a real, working console in many cases. The rumored set would include 1,911 pieces and at least one original-style controller, with a release expected during this year’s Christmas rush. The U.S. price is said to be $160, while the pricing for other regions remains unclear.
The set is reportedly based on the original 1994 PlayStation console. The PS1 design is fairly simple, and the most defining shape cues would come from the controller – which is expected to be the original non-analog pad rather than later DualShock variants. According to the leak, the PlayStation LEGO set will total 1,911 pieces, noticeably fewer than the Atari 2600 (2,532 pieces) and the Nintendo Entertainment System (2,646 pieces), though it is also said to be cheaper than those.
Neither Sony nor LEGO has officially revealed the set. As things stand, buyers can often find a genuine, working PlayStation 1 on eBay for less than the rumored price of this replica. At $160, the PS1 LEGO set would also be more expensive than the functional PlayStation Classic mini console that Sony launched in 2018. That emulation box debuted at $100 and was quickly discounted during the holiday season, largely because its game selection failed to excite.
The broader LEGO – Sony partnership also includes LEGO Horizon Adventures, which reimagines Sony’s Horizon series with blocky visuals inside the LEGO universe. Interestingly, someone has already submitted a fully realized PlayStation 1 replica to the LEGO Ideas program, and that model reportedly gathered close to 9,000 supporters.
