MOVIE NEWS – The creators of SPRING WIND – Awakening, which has already reached more than 130,000 viewers, have made an unusual decision: over the Easter weekend, from Friday at 7 PM until Sunday at midnight, they will make the film available for free on the eletedmozija.hu platform so it can reach every part of the country. The aim of the initiative is to make the shared film experience part of family gatherings, and with this step the filmmakers are placing social impact ahead of traditional distribution considerations.
In their announcement video, Tamás Yvan Topolánszky and Claudia Sümeghy emphasized that although the film is performing outstandingly in cinemas with more than 130,000 viewers and would have a strong chance of reaching 200,000 admissions, the creators are now prioritizing social impact over traditional distribution and business considerations. The decision was also driven by the fact that many cinemas, despite the remarkable audience feedback and requests of recent weeks, did not put the film on their schedules due to political pressure. The creators’ intention is for the film to truly reach every corner of the country – including those who have not yet been able to see it in a cinema. For them, and according to audience feedback for viewers as well, SPRING WIND – Awakening is about courage, hope, and shared responsibility: about our ability to stand together for a common goal and in doing so strengthen the message of hope and faith. A free online release is a rare move in the industry, one that, under the usual distribution model, can also limit later streaming, television, and international festival opportunities, but the filmmakers considered the widest possible reach of the film’s message to be the primary goal.
The film still works most powerfully as a communal experience made for the cinema screen, which is why the Family Cinema Weekend announced for Easter will also remain in place: the creators encourage viewers, if they can, to continue watching the film in cinemas and to carry the shared experience into family conversations during the holiday gatherings. At the same time, online availability also creates an opportunity for those to join the shared experience who, for geographical or other reasons, were unable to attend a screening.
The creators are donating 11% of the film’s net producer revenue to child protection causes, and they therefore ask viewers who are able to support the initiative – whether by going to the cinema or by contributing online. SPRING WIND – Awakening will be available for free from Friday at 7 PM until Sunday at midnight on eletedmozija.hu.
The documentary film SPRING WIND – Awakening is directed by Tamás Yvan Topolánszky, and produced by Claudia Sümeghy and Tamás Yvan Topolánszky, the team also behind Curtiz, Heights and Depths, and the family film I Accidentally Wrote a Book. The film was made as a co-production between Halluci-Nation and JUNO11 Pictures. Its cinematographers are Viktor Németh, Tamás Yvan Topolánszky, and Bálint Kalmár, its editors are Dániel Márton and Tamás Yvan Topolánszky, and post-production sound was handled by Máté Péterffy. The film has been showing in cinemas nationwide since March 12, 2026, distributed by JUNO11 Distribution – eletedmozija.hu.
