MOVIE NEWS – Major Hollywood premieres, historical crime dramas, tense thrillers, and large-scale action films are joining the CANAL+ catalogue in August. Several new films and series will debut, with popular titles including Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Paris Police 1910, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The redesigned CANAL+ application launched this summer also makes discovering content easier. Alongside a clearer interface, the app has gained new features such as Multi-Live, which allows viewers to follow as many as four live television channels simultaneously, and a separate children’s profile. The number of channels available on catch-up has also increased significantly: more than 40 channels can now be replayed through the CANAL+ NOW EXTRA package, while CANAL+ NOW provides catch-up access to more than 25 channels, allowing programmes missed because of summer activities to be watched anywhere and at any time.

CANAL+ is once again taking fans of historical crime dramas to Paris as the successful Paris Police universe expands. In the new season, Paris Police 1910, Inspector Jouin investigates an exceptionally complex double murder whose connections reach into the highest circles of the French elite. One of the story’s central figures is Marguerite Steinheil, an infamous personality in contemporary high society whose name became linked to real historical scandals.

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena also evokes a historical world, bringing back the ruthless power struggles, gladiatorial combat, and intrigue of ancient Rome. The prequel series shows how the arena of Capua became a setting for bloodshed, betrayal, and survival.

Fantasy fans can watch Knights of the Zodiac, the live-action adaptation of the internationally known Japanese Saint Seiya manga series, featuring numerous mythological and fantasy elements.

Strong Female Characters and Unusual Lives

Strong female characters and frequently unconventional life stories also receive considerable attention in the CANAL+ catalogue. Miss Austen explores a less familiar side of Jane Austen and presents the author’s world through an unusual investigation involving female relationships, secrets, and lost opportunities. Corsage approaches the legendary Austrian Empress Elisabeth, known as Sisi, from a modern perspective and portrays a woman trying to escape the roles imposed upon her. Sport and determination take centre stage in the series Tornászok, which follows young female athletes as they confront the pressures of performance, rivalry, and self-realisation.
