The Head of the Persona Franchise Would Make Remakes of the Most Neglected Titles in the IP!

Of the five main episodes released so far, three tend to be the focus of attention, while the other two seem to have been all but forgotten — but that might be about to change.
Let’s dive right into the Persona series. No matter which instalment interests us, we’re sure to find something in it that speaks to us. Persona 3? You can enjoy the Persona 3 Portable port, the Persona 3 remake or the Episode Aigis DLC. Is Persona 4 your favourite? A spectacular remake of that one is in the works, too. Or maybe you’re a Persona 5 fan? In that case, you can marvel at the vast amount of Persona 5-themed content scattered throughout the games. Unless, of course, we love Persona 1 and/or 2, in which case we should crawl back into our holes and keep quiet. That’s just how things go.
Despite these games being the ones most in need of a remaster, Atlus and SEGA have never paid much attention to the PS1-era Persona games. But maybe that’s about to change. In a recent interview with GamerBraves, Kazuhisa Wada, producer of the Persona series, said that, as far as he is concerned, remakes of Persona 1 and 2 are practically a must.
He can’t say for sure whether they will be made, but he personally believes they should definitely do it — and in his opinion, they need to. Of course, Wada and Atlus are currently busy with Persona 4 Revival, which is set to be released in February next year. Persona 4 is a very important work and title for him personally, and he believes it resonates with many fans of the series.
It’s no surprise that the Persona team has focused its attention on the third, fourth and fifth instalments. Persona 3 elevated the series to the high school drama simulation genre with which we now identify. The first two games, meanwhile, were quite different in nature, bearing more resemblance to the Shin Megami Tensei games from which the Persona series evolved than the later instalments do. We’d love to try playing them on modern systems too.
