SPOTIFY NEWS – Have you ever wanted to have the giant spaceman helmets made famous by Daft Punk? That might not be very practical in your everyday life, but here’s the next best thing: wearing the helmet on a ring.
It’s been nearly three years since Daft Punk released their fourth studio album Random Access Memories and “Get Lucky” was playing on virtually every speaker capable of producing sound. There’s no word yet on a fifth album, but one area where the band is succeeding is brand recognition. The French electronic duo is managing to keep their name in the news, all thanks to the greatest lesson that Spaceballs had to offer: how to successfully merchandise.
Daft Punk actually started their own promotional blitz and introduced their attention-grabbing online store last November, and they sell just about anything they could put their name on hoodies, pens, buttons, Frisbees, yo-yos, t-shirts, coffee mugs, holiday ornaments, artwork, tote bags, magnets, belt buckles… like we said, pretty much everything.
Daft Punk‘s merchandise store shared a photo of the helmet rings on Instagram, along with retro advertisements for new skateboards, hats and polo shirts that have a ’70s look. The band has previously put out vintage advertisements for their band gear, and there seems to still be a disco theme for the additions.
