Microsoft’s plans seem to have quickly been shadowed by Sony (or the other way around, as we previously heard from the Japanese first that they want to upgrade the PS4) – something is about to be removed. The term „console generation”, that is.
According to Kotaku, Sony is working on a stronger PlayStation 4 model, which would have higher GPU power and the chance to run the games on the 4K resolution. Unfortunately, we don’t know if the 37 million PS4-owners would be able to upgrade or they would have to buy a completely new console.
However, as Kotaku states, Sony already briefs developers about the incoming „PS4.5” or „PS4K.” The bigger power and resolution also means the PlayStation VR will also receive upgrades as the new PS4 would be able to pick up the fight against the Oculus Rift and HTC Live, which both require high-end PCs to work properly.
It seems Sony and Microsoft are still in a race to become the better in our eyes…
