We could not deny the expansion of virtual reality anymore even if we wanted to. More and more developers are starting to develop for the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or the PSVR. This time, it’s a new studio that entered the fray.
Jonathan Perry was formerly Bioware‘s cinematic director, so he was responsible for the cutscenes in the recent games (and it’s not harmful to say that he always had outstanding results – his last work was Dragon Age: Inquisition from 2014). He left Bioware to form a new studio in San Antonio, Texas. It is called Ractive that will work on brand new IP specifically for VR gaming.
Ractive hasn’t announced any projects yet, but it’s confirmed that they chose Unreal Engine, and they are working on experiences for both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. This information also shows that Sony indeed did position the PSVR as an entry into virtual reality gaming. We might hear more from them in the next few months.
