MOVIE NEWS – Keanu Reeves stated that he’s ready to go on exploring ‘John Wick’ and wants to take it to the next level in a possible ‘John Wick 3’ and 4.
John Wick 2 isn’t out in movie theaters until 2017 February, but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk about even more sequels. Keanu Reeves had an unexpected success hit with the first John Wick in 2014, and he seems to just as liking the character as spectators.
Since John Wick: Chapter 2 is almost done the shooting, Keanu, and his team do have a strong vision for the next episodes. And the actor absolutely hopes to take it to the next level in the coming sequels. He spoke to Collider this about turning John Wick into a real Hollywood franchise.
“I love John Wick. We had a fantastic time making this story. I can’t say that we’re not geeked about continuing the idea and the character. We have some really cool ideas. We talk about what would be cool to take it to the next level.”
In the very first John Wick Keanu Reeves was a master assassin who tried to retire from his profession. But this discreet civilian life is upended when his car is stolen, and his dog who was left to him by his late wife is killed. In next to no time, he is back on the streets gunning to take down those that did him wrong. That leads him to the front door of a powerful mob boss’ son. John Wick: Chapter 2 in which he will go to Rome, will further explore the assassin’s world.
The first sequel is defined as an all-out war amongst assassins. John Wick is bound to uphold a blood oath, and must assist an old colleague who is aiming to take control of the international assassin syndicate. Both men are put on a hit list as the most lethal killers in the world arrive in Rome to hunt them down. Common is playing the main bad guy, this time, out. Also in the cast are Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, John Leguizamo and Bridget Moynahan. The movie also reunites Keanu Reeves with his old Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne.
We are a bit short on action franchises at the moment, as we get more and more superheroes movies. The potential for more John Wick sequels certainly seems endless. At 51-years-old, Keanu Reeves certainly has found a new home. Let’s just hope it doesn’t keep him from finally jumping back in those old Adidas hi-tops to play Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan a third time in the long-awaited Bill & Ted 3.
