MOVIE NEWS – Elizabeth Olsen herself told journalists, that Avengers 2 director Joss Whedon promised her: she’d never have to be dressed in the sexy Scarlet Witch costume from the comics.
We could see her fully first last summer, in Marvel‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron where Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch was introduced. We also had an earlier glimpse of this magical character, and her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) in the end credits scene of 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
By the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Scarlet Witch became an approved member of the Avengers team, and she also returns this weekend as part of the massive ensemble cast of Captain America: Civil War. During the promotion of this new movie, which debuted yesterday, the actress made quite an interesting revelation about her costume.
Even though most Marvel characters in the MCU stay quite closely to their comic counterparts, concerning the outfit, Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon went in another direction with Scarlet Witch. The look of Elizabeth Olsen‘s is far more conservative than the original one in the comics, which is very skimpy and revealing.
Now the actress told that she was never going to wear that sexy original costume in the first place – which we, male readers are very sorry to hear. During the promotion of Captain America: Civil War on NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, the actress recounted her very first meeting with Joss Whedon, the director of Avengers: Age of Ultron director.
“The same meeting Joss Whedon even mentioned who we were meeting he said there’s this character, Scarlet Witch, that I’m interested in for you to play. And when you go home and Google her, just know that you will never have to wear what she wears in the comics. I did ballet growing up, but that’s not a confident look,” she said.
Seth Meyers then showed the audience a picture of Scarlet Witch‘s comic book costume, which comprised a cape and a skimpy skin-tight suit that barely covered her chest, the actress teased about how much tape would be needed if she were ever to wear that outfit.
It’s worth to add, that director Joss Whedon has since left Marvel Studios, but it still wouldn’t be unlikely to change her costume from her current look to this revealing outfit. Her current outfits may change a bit in the future flick, but it would most probably be along the same lines as what she wears now.
After Marvel‘s Civil War, Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch will most likely be back for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2, although no cast members have been confirmed for either movie as of yet. Production is scheduled to start in late 2016, with directors Anthony Russo and Joe Russo shooting both movies back-to-back. Take a look at the video below with Elizabeth Olsen‘s appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where they discuss her Scarlet Witch costume.
