Peter Moore, one of the higher ups at Electronic Arts, has broken our hearts with his latest interview with IGN.
„We are a company that is focussed on delivering for the future. Could we make an easy buck on remastering Mass Effect? Yes. We just feel like we want to go forward. […] Do we have teams lying around that are doing nothing right now, that can go and? No, we don’t. We want to focus on the future and delivering new IP and new experiences. The real focus should be on player first. There’s easy money to be made all over this industry.” – these sentences mean that Shepard is unlikely to pop up on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. (The last sentence is obviously about the remasters.)
Moore‘s comments mean that we have to bid adieu to a potential Mass Effect Trilogy remaster, because even he says that they (along with Bioware) are focusing on Andromeda, due to launch in early 2017.
However, seeing that Ubisoft, Activision, and even THQ Nordic are publishing re-releases, it’s just a question of time to see Electronic Arts join them.
(The interview with Moore starts about at 76 minutes.)
