Multiple things will not be present when the game’s PlayStation 4 port launches.
The game, which will be out on Tuesday on Sony’s console, hasn’t been mentioned a lot recently, but Frontier Developments finally started talking about the PS4 port in a stream. The basic PS4 and the Xbox One versions will have the same visual quality and frame rate. That’s alright, but the moment we move over to the PlayStation 4 Pro, issues start to pop up immediately.
The PS4 Pro will offer Quality and Performance options, which has become an unofficial standard with multiple games. However, the developers didn’t mention the native resolutions and the frame rates at all for them. The game won’t offer a 4K resolution at launch (also no supersampling either for HDTV-owners), plus you can also forget about HDR as well for now. What a shame (especially if we consider how there was immediately an Xbox One X patch announcement when the console got revealed). PlayStation VR-support? It’s not even planned at the moment.
Elite Dangerous is out on Tuesday for PlayStation 4.
