Respawn Entertainment co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella stated in a recent interview that although Titanfall 2 sold well at the time, they expected a much better sales performance than they had.
“The game was successful, it sold well, but it did not sell as well as it should. Maybe because it was overcompleted and the price was very aggressive, or maybe we had a bad window for our game launch.”
Overall the reviews were positive for Titanfall 2, with great recognition for their single player campaign, whose absence had been much criticized in the first installment. However, one of the biggest mistakes was to launch this game right in the same weeks that debuted “monsters” of the genre, such as Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Despite this, although they did not get all the success they wanted, Zampella said that the development team and Electronic Arts are still enthusiastic in the universe of this franchise and anticipated that they will work on more titles, to grow the saga.
Titanfall 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. For now, we know that Respawn is working on a third-person action title from Star Wars, directed by Stig Asmussen (God of War).
