There is no AAA game without a day one patch.
Capcom announced that on January 26, when Monster Hunter World launches on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, will get an 815-megabyte patch. It will unlock several online-use features, such as multiplayer, event quests, and chat. It will also allow you to receive additional content in your My House room service, the Gallery mode to replay event scenes (where your character’s appearance will be based on the save data), and it will also add the mascot character, Poogie, to the Research Commission HQ. „You can deepen your friendship with him through skillful petting. If you pick him up and take him around, something good might happen,” Capcom‘s press release says. (You can find Poogie on the third image.)
One more quote about the display languages: „In addition to the Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish included in all versions of the game, the following display languages have been added for specific versions:
- Japan: No additional languages
- Asia: Traditional Chinese and Korean
- North America: Brazilian Portuguese
- Europe: Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Russian, and Arabic
Additional voiced languages have not been added. All versions of the game will feature Monster Hunter language, Japanese, English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish voiced language options.”
Although we already wrote about the Spring update where a new monster, Deviljho, will be the „star,” there are new details: there will also be event quests, as well as „special collaborations.” Gestures are planned to be added as free updates, while paid DLC (microtransactions) would be „gestures, face paint, and stamp sets for use in chat.”
Kaname Fujioka and Yuya Tokuda, the game’s two producers, told IGN the following about the possibility of a Nintendo Switch port: „We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment. Part of the reason is that the title has been in development for almost four years. At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So [the decision was made] before the Switch was even announced or on sale.
It’s also because for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept. We don’t just look at everything. It’s more like ‘if we want to achieve this kind of game concept, where’s the best place to achieve that?’ and for this title, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were the best fit for us.”
In other words, the Switch port will only happen unless the game, which will launch on January 26 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in the autumn on PC, sells like hotcakes. Until then, have a look at a new video by DigitalFoundry: the team compared Monster Hunter World‘s final beta on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
