Sony has started testing the new firmware with the chosen, lucky players… and thus, we now know a few new tidbits about the next major update!
DualShockers reports that those who own a PlayStation 4 Pro will receive the Supersampling mode, which forces the resolution to be 1080p on our screen if it is not capable of supporting the 4K resolution. The amount and quality of improvement depend on the game we play. In short, it’s pretty much the opposite of the Boost mode – instead of going for performance, the console would stick to a 1080p resolution.
The second major addition is Teams, allowing us to chat, play together, or even compete with our friends. Finally, there’s also the ability to delete notifications, as well as hide content from our library, which means less clutter after all those betas are removed!
Knowing Sony, these are just consisting just a small slice of the improvements that the 5.50 firmware will have. It doesn’t have a release date at the moment, but we guess that it’ll hit all of us in March.
