Activision tries to expand Destiny microtransactions in Korea

A new, reworked version of Destiny 2 is going to release soon and it will only be available in South Korea.

The reworked version’s name will be Destiny: Guardians and it is going to release this fall – the announcement comes from a korean eSport website, called Naver Sports. Microtransactions are getting more and more hate nowadays from consumers, but it looks like Activision doesn’t care about that.

For the Korean market the company has choosen a different business strategy – players will be able to buy game-changing high level gears that can actually give them an advantage instead of simple cosmetic rewards. All of these will be sold by a new vendor, by the way.

Aside from the microtransactions, the Korean version will have all the Destiny 2 content that is released so far, including the Forsaken DLC. Also the game will be a PC-only title and it will run on Korean servers.

Because in the announcement they made a reference to the Festival of the Lost event (which is a Halloween-themed in-game event), it’s possible that Destiny: Guardians will release in October.
