SoulCalibur VI isn’t even out yet, and we already have to talk about this subject…
DualShockers interviewed Motohiro Okubo, the producer of the game, and he didn’t beat around the bushes: „The IP itself of the SoulCalibur franchise had low expectations from the company [Namco Bandai]. It was facing a crisis of maybe disappearing. It took time for me to convince the company. We don’t want to blackmail the users by saying that it could be the last one, but as it is, yes.” The developers know what they want to do, and they do precisely that, as they have nothing to lose.
What about the Nintendo Switch, though? SoulCalibur VI uses Unreal Engine 4, and thus, the port job shouldn’t be much of a problem. „At the moment there is no development for Switch at all. I understand that the Switch is very successful hardware, and of course, if there is a possibility, then it would be great to do it. At the moment we’re focusing on the October 19th launch, so we don’t even have the time to think about that possibility. After the launch we’ll think about the possibility,” Okubo added. (So, the SCVI Switch rumours were previously false.)
If SoulCalibur VI doesn’t sell well, it might be the last in the series, and probably it won’t get ported to the Switch either. The game is out on October 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Please boycott this company. They refuse to utilize their actual IPs properly and the number of dead IPs are just going to keep piling. They aren’t even using Pac-Man properly anymore. The last good game he had was in 2005.
