MOVIE NEWS – Peter Calloway (showrunner of Legion, and Cloak and Dagger), and Contradiction Films help Remedy Entertainment to make Alan Wake (which is inspired by 80s, 90s TV, as well as several Stephen King novels) turn into a solid TV series adaptation.
Variety reports that Remedy works on more than just their next game called Control; they are making a TV adaptation of Alan Wake, and its executive producer will be Sam Lake, the co-creator and head writer of the game.
„Alan Wake was a TV series that was made into a game. That was [Sam Lake’s] vision. It was influenced by The Twilight Zone, Secret Window, Hitchcock, Northern Exposure, a lot of U.S. television. We plan to work closely with Sam on this show. Sam is a huge part of this. This is his baby,” Contradiction Films partner Tomas Harlan said.
Would Alan Wake get a sequel if the series becomes a hit? „The story of the original game is our starting point, the seed which will grow into the bigger story we’re exploring in the show. We’ll be expanding the lore of this crazy and dark universe and diving deeper into certain aspects of it than the game ever did. Not only that, but through the years we’ve worked on multiple game concepts and stories for Alan Wake’s world that has never seen the light of day. All of this material will function as potential source material for the show,” Sam Lake said.
So, the game was a TV series, and it will now be turned into a television thing, which, in turn, could be used for the sequel. It makes sense, doesn’t it?
