Kenichiro Yoshida said something we all expected to happen.
We already knew that Sony is working on the PlayStation 5, but Yoshida confirmed it in the interview with Financial Times: „At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have next-generation hardware.” However, he declined to name the next-gen console as the PlayStation 5.
The Financial Times also talked about a rumour: they might be working on a tablet „as online streaming of games becomes more widespread, and the company seeks to derive ever greater synergies between its games and movie divisions.” They also cited „people in the games publishing industry with knowledge of Sony’s plans for a future console” – they claim the next PlayStation’s architecture would be fundamentally similar to the PlayStation 4‘s.
Sony is one leg into the PlayStation 5 at this point, which is reasonable – the PlayStation 4 will turn five in a month…
