MOVIE NEWS – A Quiet Place was quite successful, so it’s getting a sequel…

If a film’s budget is between 17-21 million dollars, only to turn a 338.5 million revenue with positive critic reviews, then it cannot be called a failure. John Krasinski, who was the writer and director (as well as one of the main characters along with his wife, Emily Blunt, as well as Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe), is already working on a sequel, even though he initially didn’t plan to make one.

„In some ways, the idea of seeing who these people were before this all happened would be interesting, but I’m not quite sure because I think actually it’s now what’s the next chapter and what happens next. I think people feel very invested in this family… I think it’s such an open book right now, and certainly for John who is lasering into something as we speak,” Blunt said.

Blunt also hinted at Krasinski writing the script of the sequel. He initially thought that the first A Quiet Place „explored something extraordinary and unique,” but after he found „a small idea,” he changed his mind: „This is a world you can play in, this isn’t just a character to remake… it’s a world, which is a whole different, unique experience. It’s not like Alien or Jaws where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating; it’s an entire actual set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets,” Krasinski said.

Simmonds thinks that A Quiet Place 2 could work if it was about the origins of the aliens, or if there was a different family than the Abbotts, but with them „working on the same problems.” She also said she would like to see the kids grow older, trying to see if they could find a solution to the problem.

A Quiet Place 2 is set to launch on May 15, 2020.
