This name was evolved into LucasArts (Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, etc…) in the past – the studio was alive until 2013. Now, the predecessor is coming back, hopefully strong.
Disney Careers‘ website shows that multiple Lucasfilm IPs (including Star Wars) are being considered for development… but the team wouldn’t make games on its own, but by supporting others. The job listings include a producer, an associate brand art director, and a marketing coordinator post.
Each listing mentions „build the next great set of Star Wars and Lucasfilm heritage products,” as well as „managing the review and approval of interactive products that incorporate Lucasfilm IP, such as Star Wars film and television properties.” The twist here – because there always seems to be one… – is that in 2017 (!), Ashley Day, Team17’s community manager, posted a screencap on Twitter that shows Electronic Arts was looking for a technical artist, engineering manager, producer, community manager and a lead game designer on LinkedIn. Something was already planned back then it seems.
We question what Lucasfilm Games will end up doing. Did Electronic Arts run into trouble after shutting down Visceral Games, who were previously making the Dead Space trilogy before beginning development on a Star Wars game with the Ragtag codename…?
