What resolution will RAGE 2 go for on PlayStation 4? What about the Xbox One?
Bethesda announced that RAGE 2 has gone gold, which means the physical copies of the game are not being manufactured. Of course, id Software and Avalanche Studios are likely working on a day-1 patch until then, because nowadays, it’s far too common to see an AAA game get a patch. They also revealed what the minimum and recommended PC system requirements are. Let’s take a look:
PC minimum system requirements:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10
- Processor: Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD Ryzen 3 1300X or better
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 or AMD R9 280, with at least 3 GB VRAM
- Storage: 50 GB available space
PC recommended system requirements:
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
- OS: Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 (64-Bit versions)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or better
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD Vega 56, with at least 8 GB VRAM
- Storage: 50 GB available space
Additional visual features:
- FOV Slider (50 to 120 degrees)
- Show HUD (on/off)
- Reticle Style (default/simple/none)
- Motion Blur (on/off)
- Depth of Field (on/off)
- Ultra-wide (21:9) and Super Ultra-wide (32:9) display support on PC
What about the consoles? On the base PlayStation 4 (or PlayStation 4 Slim), the game runs on a 1080p resolution with thirty frames per second. The Xbox One only reaches 900p with 30 FPS. There are no differences between the PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X: both consoles aim for 1080p resolution and 60 FPS. (Interesting, so there might be no performance/resolution option in this game, which seems to be common for these stronger consoles?)
RAGE 2 is out on May 14 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
