Capcom‘s game got a playable trial version this week (we mentioned it before), and there are already some comparisons Resident Evil 3 Remake demo.
The first video below compares the demo of Resident Evil 3 Remake on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Resolution-wise, the Xbox One X wins by running the game on full 4K, followed by the PlayStation 4 Pro on 2880×1620. The base/Slim PlayStation 4 model has the game on 1080p, and the Xbox One S uses dynamic resolution which could go as low as 1728×972. However, the stronger Xbox pays the price on frame rate: the Xbox One X goes as low as 30 frames per second, while the PlayStation 4 Pro has near-constant 60 FPS. The base PlayStation 4 hovers around 40 FPS and the Xbox One S drops sometimes under 30 FPS. These are big differences between the four consoles.
Let’s hope that Capcom will optimise the retail game so that Resident Evil 3 Remake can run properly on all consoles. It applies especially to the Xbox One X, as the currently strongest on the market console should have more performance than what we see. Especially how its main competitor has no issues. Looks like the Japanese developer gave the advantage to the local console…
The second video is about the demo, it was removed, but it shows areas that you cannot normally access. It has some areas that we have previously seen in gameplay videos, but there are also places that we have never seen before. Let’s hope that most of these areas will be present in the retail game as well.
Resident Evil 3 Remake, plus its 4v1 asymmetric multiplayer Resident Evil Resistance, will arrive on April 3 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. (Will there also be a next-gen version?)
