FromSoftware‘s game, according to rumours, is possibly one of those games that will only be available from 2022.
Elden Ring was announced during the 2019 Xbox E3 press conference, and since then, it became a Yeti: everyone talks about it, but nobody has seen the next FromSoftware product. VGC reports that the reason behind the silence is mostly due to the coronavirus global pandemic, which caused everyone to work from home, according to sources that are familiar with FromSoftware’s plans. The changes meant the development schedule couldn’t be followed.
Thus, the game was delayed internally within the studio several times (however, the publisher, Bandai Namco, had to know about it, too). This is why there’s not much of a chance of a possible 2021 launch for Elden Ring (which would in turn question if the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One would still get the game…). Bandai Namco is possibly going to launch an online broadcast series, similarly to Sony’s State of Play, and Nintendo’s Nintendo Direct, respectively. Microsoft has debunked the rumours that the game would be showcased during their alleged event on March 23.
On Twitter, Elden Ring leaked via multiple sources, but we ended up taking a 66-second trailer from here, but due to it being an off-screen camera recording, the quality is far from being the best. We don’t know when this video was recorded, but we can see a few interesting things, such as a fire-breathing dragon and combat on horseback. VGC claims Elden Ring was previously planned to launch during Summer 2020, but the pandemic pushed the next evolution of the FromSoftware formula back by quite some time. We found another video that we archived, too.
If Bandai Namco wants to stop the leaks, then they should officially reveal the trailer, but still, don’t expect Elden Ring to launch in 2021. On paper, it is planned for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but we’d rule out the 2013 consoles in favour of the PlayStation 5/Xbox Series duo…
