The much-anticipated Atomic Heart is being put to the finishing touches, with developers confirming the completion of Part 2 and promising stable performance for the game on PS4.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Mundfish, the Russian developer behind Atomic Heart. Since the first trailer, the open-world first-person shooter game has impressed us with its graphics and atmosphere, with many gamers hunting for it.
Fortunately, an updated FAQ has now been published on the official Discord. The first answer addresses the question on everyone’s mind: the release date. While Mundfish didn’t say precisely when we can play Atomic Heart, they state that it’s in its final stages, which suggests that all content is in place.
“So we can’t give a specific date yet.” – says the description. “In general, developers are very careless about release dates; they keep postponing it and keep repeating that it’s tomorrow.” – the creators admit, but also respond:
“Not everything is as simple as it seems: the release date is not “just” a date: it affects communication with publishers, it affects the Xbox Game Pass schedule, of which Atomic Heart is a part, and it affects the release in stores and the global network of major releases (where everything is aligned).” – they explain in the release.
“But the most important thing you need to know is that never before have we been able to say ‘Game Ready’. Even now, we can only say that we are currently in the final touches phase. But the long wait is almost over, we promise.” – the creators vow.
As for the multiple endings, Mundfish said fans can expect two, although the game’s story will still be linear. “We will have two endings. But we’re not an RPG: Atomic Heart has a strictly linear storyline, and you shouldn’t expect incredible variability,” they said, pointing out a potential misunderstanding.
The heart is also in place
However, they added: ” Closer to the finale, we have put an important moral choice in the hands of the player because we want to encourage the community to debate with each other about the themes we have woven into the story. We want you to draw your conclusions so you can make your own decisions, rather than being influenced by forces from above,” the developers advise.
The perennially burning question of performance has been reassured that the PlayStation 4, the best-selling console of the last generation, is already running the game at “good, stable performance”. Hopefully, this bodes well for other platforms. They wrote: “We’ll answer this question closer to launch, as we’ll be working to lower Atomic Heart’s minimum system requirements until the last few days, and we’re not entirely sure how far we can go.” – they candidly admitted.
” We want everyone to be able to play. We’ve got solid performance on PS4, we’re not abandoning the past gen version, and we’re doing everything we can to optimize the game to suit gamers with low hardware configurations.” – the studio has committed to gamers of modest means, which is a respectable contribution regardless of the date. We’re rooting for them!
