Ubisoft Montréal’s game is arriving shortly, so in this case, the French publisher took its time to show off the next The Division during Ubisoft Forward.
Remember that this game is part of Ubisoft’s changing strategy. It’s no coincidence that The Division IP has taken a different turn after the first two paid games, as Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland will be free-to-play, but its genre survival, multiplayer TPS approach hasn’t changed. Here’s the publisher’s overview: “Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland is a free-to-play survival action multiplayer shooter that will take Division Agents to a new rural location, the midwestern American town of Silver Creek. It’s a quiet hamlet that has been ravaged by the Dollar Flu and become a hotbed of Division activity thanks to its hidden secrets. Select from a new roster of playable characters and explore the town as you fight alongside and against other players.
Fight together in 45-player player-versus-environment-versus-player Storm Operations against a group of dangerous Rogue agents, an aggressive faction known as the Vultures, all while surviving a lethal virus. Complete player-versus-environment missions, gather gear, activate alerts, and prep the battlefield in Excursion Operations. Play as one of six agents and select between three classes each match, all with unique perks and skills.”
Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland will be released between 2022 and 2023 (which means the French publisher wants to release it in the fiscal year ending in March, and they don’t know when it will be sufficiently polished…) for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC (Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the two cloud platforms, Google Stadia and Amazon Luna, are not left out of the mix. You can register now on the game’s website to get a chance to try the game before its release, presumably close to its launch.
