Days Gone: Did The Game Really Fail Because Of “Woke Critics”?!

The director of Days Gone has made it clear who he thinks is to blame for the lukewarm reception at Metacritic…

Remember Days Gone? The motorbike action-adventure that scored a rather mediocre score in the gaming press. On Metacritic, it didn’t reach the level of quality PlayStation wanted. The game, starring Deacon St. John, finally made it to PC. In fact, it looks like a movie is in the works.

Now, Days Gone director and screenwriter John Garvin has named the main reasons why the game has received so much negative press (in his opinion).

A fan asked Garvin about the few good reviews that Bend Studio’s 2019 title has received. The director pointed out on his Twitter account that there are three main reasons for the negative reviews:

“It had tech issues like bugs, streaming and frame rate.”

“It had reviewers who couldn’t be bothered to actually play the game.”

“It had woke reviewers who couldn’t handle a gruff white biker looking at his date’s ass.”

It should be noted that it is currently not possible to go to the original tweet because Garvin has limited the number of users who can see his posts. However, VGC picked up on this information and was able to catch these statements.

In any case, the Days Gone director continues to respond to users, sticking to his controversial opinion.

One responded, “C’mon John: ‘woke’? You’re better than that,” to which Garvin replied: “Nope, I’m really not… if a reviewer objects to a character because of identity politics, I call that woke … how am I wrong?” It’s worth noting that the original plan was to release a Days Gone trilogy, which would have improved certain aspects of the open world and narrative.
