For Blizzard, it’s a shame that the promises of a remastered edition of their game can be added as a mod instead of officially to the new version of Warcraft III (which has taken the place of the old version…).

The idea of Warcraft III: Reforged, released nearly three years ago, was not stupid. Blizzard had several promises for the new edition. It wanted to make the game better than the original: better quality scenes, better-looking maps, expanded campaigns… but the result was nothing like what Activision Blizzard promised. Warcraft III: Re-Reforged aims to fill this unfilled void, as the mod aims to deliver on the developers’ promises.

The mod, which can be downloaded here, has been in development for some time. Several unique campaigns with visuals were seen in the Warcraft III: Reforged announcement video. The maps have been reimagined, there are more secrets, and the difficulty has been rebalanced, so it provides an experience that Blizzard could have done before (and since there was no pandemic at the time, Activision Blizzard has no such excuse!).

The mod’s description claims, “Remastered in-game cinematics, with angles, interface, and style closely matching the ones shown at Blizzcon 2018. Reimagined maps and missions with beautiful, easy-to-navigate terrain, modernized gameplay, redesigned quests, and more meaningful events, often influencing following maps in interesting ways. Detailed and expanded lore, with a completely new epilogue and playable interludes, fleshed-out characters, old and new, meaningful interactions, and many references from World of Warcraft.

Rebalanced difficulty levels to make the experience tailored and engaging to each player, with entirely new AI scripts designed to give opponents a different personality. Multiple languages are supported, including some voice acting for the additional dialogues, and all graphics mods are compatible. New, lore-accurate secrets and much more… only waiting for you to play!”

If Activision Blizzard cracks down on this (threatening a lawsuit), the publisher is burning itself, and something like it should not happen.
