Take-Two doesn’t want anything leaked about Grand Theft Auto VI, but it’s a little too late because there have already been a few incidents that we’ve reported.

Take-Two is doing its best to keep anyone who might know anything about the next installment of its big money-making franchise quiet. Then, last year, Rockstar Games’ network was hacked from the outside, leading to the alleged arrest of a 17-year-old in the UK. Many small details about Grand Theft Auto VI have been leaked to the internet, but nothing major. But for a significant leak, Take-Two has stepped up.

On September 18, a 50-minute video surfaced on GTAForums, which we have on our hard drives, and good luck to Rockstar and Take-Two for changing that. We got a lot of unannounced details from this video, and of course, the publisher started deleting it here and there, claiming copyright. Still, all that happened was that more and more people reported the developments, and copies of the video eventually appeared online. The Grand Theft Auto VI subreddit had to be shut down:

“As you guys know, Reddit has removed many posts from our subreddit due to copyright strikes from Take-Two. We locked the subreddit indefinitely to calm and deal with this situation. Going forward, leaks are strictly not allowed in this subreddit. This includes posting leaks directly to the subreddit and linking to any sources containing the leaked footage. We have to be this careful because we already have a lot of copyright strikes, and if we get any more, there’s a risk of our subreddit getting banned. To enforce this rule, posting leaks will result in a permanent ban without warning to prevent leaks from being posted. Please also refrain from asking for links to the leaks as well. The subreddit will also be monitored, and posts will be manually approved for some time until things return to how they were. If you see any post or comment containing leaked footage, please help us by reporting them,” the statement said

The publisher’s move is understandable but also speaks volumes about the game. We’ve also been marketing tools to them for reporting the leaks…
