Another possible reason has been rumored for Rocksteady’s game.
Let’s start with Insomniac Games’ game. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is rumored to be coming to PlayStation 5 in September. Since the first installment also came out this month for PlayStation 4 in 2018, it makes sense that Sony’s studio is planning as such. But how does this relate to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? We wrote yesterday that it would be released in February instead of the planned May launch!
According to Jason Schreier, writing for Bloomberg, the September release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 played a role in the rescheduled 2024 release, and he responded to someone who said there could be a PlayStation exclusive coming in November or December, which we don’t know about yet. So instead of letting Suicide Squad compete, Warner has backed out, suggesting they don’t have enough faith in this game either.
In February, the game received a State of Play broadcast, which was not greeted with great enthusiasm. Perhaps it is why another rumor, also from Schreier, has surfaced. According to him, the live service elements that have thoroughly divided the audience during the approximately nine-month delay will not be removed. Rocksteady developers have reportedly heard that the delay is necessary for the game’s polish. However, Windows Central’s Jez Corden believes that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has been delayed to take out or rework the need for a constant Internet connection. So Schreier and Corden have heard very different things.
We believe that the removal of always-online will not take that long. You must remove its importance from the code in solo play to allow offline play. However, beyond that, unfortunately, you’ll still have Denuvo because Warner is sticking it in every game, despite the problems it has caused (Batman: Arkham Knight: poor performance, Injustice 2: stuck in one move).
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is out on February 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
