The Redmond-based company is playing a trick on us, as more than six games are going away.
Although Microsoft always announces which titles will soon be leaving the subscription service (and Sony could learn a lesson from it because they don’t tend to do that…), they’re cheating a bit, too, because, during June, some games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass that the company hasn’t announced they’re departing. Many game deals expire in June, but at least Microsoft is being transparent about it, for the most part.
At the end of May, Evil Genius 2: World Domination, Europa Universe 4, Floppy Knights, Lawnmowing Simulator, and FIFA 21, available through EA Play, all left. The six titles not yet announced are Among Us, Cricket 22, Generation Zero, Naraka: Bladepoint, The Hunter: Call of the Wild, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. Several of them are extremely popular (Among Us and TMNT especially), so their departure is strange.
As a reminder, the only titles we knew of leaving on June 15 are Bridge Constructor Portal, Chorus, Maneater, Mortal Shell, Serious Sam 4, and Total War: Three Kingdoms. Microsoft has not given any reason why it is finally getting rid of double the number of titles on its service, which is unfair. They should at least say something like they forgot or something. Understandably, if there is not much interest in something, it is taken off to make room for something newer or more popular. Still, we should expect more from Microsoft, which has an endless purse and would be willing to buy Activision Blizzard King for $68.7 billion.
Let’s hope they have more surprises in store for the E3 follow-up Xbox Games Showcase on June 11 to get the nod of approval from subscribers, but better be realistic: it will get worse.
