Ubisoft is rumoured to be bringing the style of From Software’s successful games to the next Assassin’s Creed.
Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed: Red will be set in feudal Japan, and in the video embedded below, a person named j0nathan has more to say. As he’s given us a lot of accurate information about previous instalments of the franchise, it’s worth considering what he’s talking about this time, but we’ll summarise the essentials.
According to him, the map in Assassin’s Creed: Red will be bigger than Valhalla’s (it’s not the same as Mirage, which admittedly had a smaller area), but not the same dimensions as Odyssey. There will be fewer guide points and less handholding, which is no coincidence as the French publisher wanted to adapt the style of Elden Ring, FromSoftware’s successful game. This could be a big change, as up until now almost every single point on the maps of the games has been highlighted by Ubisoft in one way or another!
According to the leaker, there will also be a “posture bar” in Assassin’s Creed: Red, but Ubisoft is taking this concept not from Elden Ring, but from another FromSoftware game, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In that game, too, the idea was to deplete the enemy’s energy, making him unstable and vulnerable to attack. In the new AC, according to the leaker, our opponents’ defences will be much better than before, so we can expect more intense battles.
The game’s protagonists, Naoi and Yasuke, will be able to use different abilities and fight or hide in different ways. The female shinobi will be able to use kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs and bells, while Yasuke’s abilities are not yet known. Both can use a grappling hook to climb to higher ground or flatten themselves in the grass to hide. There will also be a new spy system that will allow you to hire enemy spies by attacking their camp and leaving them alive.
None of this is official yet, of course. There’s no release date for Assassin’s Creed: Red, so we’ll have to wait at least another year for that.
