This essentially makes the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 redundant, as fans are getting better and better quality on PC with Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1.
DSOGaming that allows Snake to move while crouching. So there’s a real transition between standing on two legs and crawling on his belly. In Metal Gear Solid 3, we only had this useful feature in Snake Eater 3D, the Nintendo 3DS port. The move was then used in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, for example. This movement feature has now been brought over to PC in the collection, proving once again that Konami doesn’t care, and that fans have a much more honest approach to games than the Japanese publisher.
Zoft and Triggerhappy, two of the mod’s creators, have ported the animations from the 3DS to expand our library of moves in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This allows us to make better use of cover, improves our camo index rating (how visible we are) and greatly increases our speed. The result is so good that it fits perfectly into the game, so it doesn’t “stick out”, but it can affect the balance a little…
Metal Gear Solid 3 may have been designed by Kojima Productions with these limitations in mind, making it less challenging to play, but it’s also important to note that fans have already made 4K resolution with a 16:9 aspect ratio possible (we reported on this earlier). And this new step closes the gap between Konami’s negligence (the first Metal Gear Solid is running on emulation…) and the persistent work of the fans. And who knows what else will be added to the collection?
To make matters worse, there is no way of porting these mods to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series, where it would be nice to see an increase in content and quality.
