Predator: Hunting Grounds Changes Publisher And Is Coming To Multiple Consoles [VIDEO]

In addition to the deal between IllFonic and Sony Interactive Entertainment, the asymmetrical shooter will also see an expansion in which one player as the Predator can hunt down other players who must stop them.

Predator: Hunting Grounds is currently available for PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), but will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles later this year as IllFonic takes over the publishing role from Sony. “This game has a strong, enthusiastic player base and a vocal community that wants to see the game updated and supported. Now that IllFonic is publishing, we knew we had to bring Predator: Hunting Grounds. We knew we had to get back to the chopper,” said IllFonic CEO Charles Brungardt in a press release. The last sentence is a reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Get to the chopper! quote, a phrase that may have become a meme due to its heavily Germanized English pronunciation at the time…

Update 2.49 for PlayStation 4 and PC will be released in April. It will focus on player movement, unlocking Fireteam and Predator weapons, reworking Fireteam weapons, and improving usability and playability. A PlayStation 5 and Xbox series port of the game will be released in late 2024, running on Unreal Engine 4.27 with Vivox and Wwise support. There will be a Basic Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition. More Predators will make their way into IllFonic’s games this winter and in the spring of 2025.

It’s also clear that IllFonic didn’t want to leave the publishing rights in Sony’s hands, because if it had been up to them, Predator: Hunting Grounds might never have been released on Microsoft’s console. The only Sony IP we’ve seen on Xbox so far is an annual sports game, MLB: The Show, based on the MLB license. At least it’s on Game Pass…
