Ubisoft’s game will feature a unique use of ray tracing that hasn’t been seen before, which makes the French publisher’s plans to bring back Sam Fisher sound exciting.
On Twitter, a well-known insider and data miner, Visceral, posted about Splinter Cell Remake, which has long been announced by Ubisoft, but we are still waiting for its release. According to him, the game will have unique features, but the biggest innovation will be the ability to detect the whereabouts of the player’s opponents thanks to the use of ray tracing reflections and audio! So, not only will you be able to see us by getting a direct view of Sam Fisher’s location, but you will also be able to identify the agent’s position based on the reflections.
If the rumors are true, Splinter Cell Remake could raise the bar for stealth games, which is about time, as the genre hasn’t made any significant progress in a few years. We still don’t know much about the game, but we do know something about its technology: it will use the Snowdrop engine, and following the example of the original, we can expect a linear experience. Beyond that, there are only question marks (and sometimes rumors).

When it comes to the Splinter Cell Remake, not only is it unknown when it will be released, but also what platforms it will be targeted at. If it reaches the public in a year or a year and a half, we’d say it will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC and, knowing Ubisoft, Amazon Luna. The French publisher could talk about it at Ubisoft Forward, which, despite the cancellation of E3, could provide important information about the project in early June.
If Ubisoft has indeed started development in 2021 (their announcement came in December 2021 that Ubisoft Toronto is developing Splinter Cell Remake), then this year, or possibly next year, should be the year of release and therefore the gameplay should be presented at Ubisoft Forward.
