Beyond Good & Evil 2: Ubisoft has Mentioned the Modern-Day Duke Nukem Forever Again!

It’s no longer a joke: Beyond Good & Evil 2 has been in development somewhere for longer than it took Duke Nukem Forever to finally reach gamers!

Remember, the first official announcement came during Ubidays 2008. That’s when we first heard that Ubisoft was planning Beyond Good & Evil 2. Since that event took place in May 2008, it’s now been over sixteen years since the development of what is slowly becoming a truly vaporware, non-existent game. Duke Nukem Forever was first announced in 1997 and released in 2011. That’s 14 years…

Beyond Good & Evil has become a classic (it’s no coincidence that it’s coming to all modern platforms in the 20th anniversary edition, with which Ubisoft is already planning to launch the second part), but despite this, the French publisher has turned its attention to Assassin’s Creed, as the first cinematic trailer video for Beyond Good & Evil 2 was released in 2017. So it’s been nine years (!), but it seems that Ubisoft Montpellier is sticking with the project, even though creative director Emile Morel, who essentially took over from Michel Ancel, who developed the IP (Ancel left the gaming industry amid sexual harassment allegations within Ubisoft, and has another vaporware game, WiLD. …), died tragically last July at the age of just 40.

Ubisoft, on the other hand, tweeted that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development. Of course, the company did not specify where the project is in development, which was good news for many. The tweet had more than 140,000 views in an hour and a half…

The only question now is, will Beyond Good & Evil 2, which Ubisoft has been calling a AAAA game for several years now, REALLY be made? After Duke, it’s hard to believe the promises.
