Dragon’s Dogma 2: Is Capcom Using a Survey to Gauge the DLC’s Direction?

Since the first Dragon’s Dogma couldn’t get by without content, Capcom is probably planning to do the same with Hideaki Itsuno’s game.

 

Itsuno, who is probably now working on Devil May Cry 6 (he has been overseeing the franchise since the second installment), also created a great game with Dragon’s Dogma. That was followed up a year later with Dark Arisen, and since Dragon’s Dogma 2 hasn’t received any DLC yet, it’s likely that this is where the Japanese company is going with its questionnaire, which touches on several topics that Capcom is working on.

The publisher wants to know how the language, naturalness and readability of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s text was; if it was the right size; if the font design was good for subtitles; how the menus, music and sound effects were; if you liked the story, characters, graphics and controls… and that’s only half the list. Whether the player liked the mechanics of Dragon’s Dogma 2 (combat, currency, leveling…), whether the interface was good, whether the game was challenging enough, whether the content was sufficient, whether they were sufficiently immersed in the game, and whether it was a unique experience. Finally, players are asked to rate the game and if they would recommend Dragon’s Dogma 2 to friends.

So these are pretty specific questions that cover the whole concept, because Capcom is asking about every aspect. Obviously, it’s the DLC that Capcom is preparing for, because that’s what they’re going to release first. (None of their major games skip DLC; Devil May Cry V had a special edition.) Of course, the feedback will be taken into account in the development of Dragon’s Dogma 3.

The sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 are nothing to be ashamed of, as Capcom’s game has already sold over 3 million copies, and the Japanese company had to increase its original sales plans. So the result is good, and it’s something to build on.
