That’s the time between the original Japanese release and the international release of the next installment in this now-venerable JRPG franchise.
After their chance meeting at sea, young red-haired adventurer Adol Christin and proud pirate Karja Balta find themselves bound by fate – and the mysterious power of Mana! As they search for a way to undo the mystical bonds that bind them, they soon find themselves embroiled in a conflict between two factions: the seafaring warriors known as the Normans and the enigmatic and seemingly immortal Griegr. To save the people of Obelia Gulf, Adol and Karja must navigate the depths of their unexpected bond and the power it grants them.
Bound by unexpected circumstances, the young adventurer Adol and the Norman pirate Karja must work together to determine the fate of Obelia Gulf and its people. Switch between controlling Adol and Karja independently or together. Combine their unique strengths to defeat enemies and build up your Revenge Gauge to unleash devastating attacks. Use Mana’s unique abilities to overcome challenges. Grapple and slide through dungeons, destroy obstacles, create new platforms, and uncover hidden treasures and critical points. The sailing ship known as the Sandras takes your exploration to new levels. Ocean voyages, naval battles, and the discovery of uncharted islands are all possible with this seaworthy vessel.
NIS America will be releasing Ys X: Nordics on October 25th for PlayStation 5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG; DRM-free!), PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It was released in Japan on September 28th last year, so it’ll be a little over a year before it’s available in the West. It’s not common these days for localization to take this long.
Incredibly, the first part of Ys, Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished, was released in 1987 for PC-88…
