TECH NEWS – The Cupertino company’s smartwatch is the result of incredible engineering, as it was able to remain functional for a very long time at the bottom of an ocean…
Apple updates the Apple Watch every year, not only in terms of features, but also in terms of design. The device has become very useful over the last decade, and it’s a step ahead of its competitors, offering more features than the others, and now it has the added bonus of being a durable piece of hardware, so it beats the competition on that front as well.
Jared Brick’s story backs this up. In a video uploaded to YouTube, he talks about traveling to the Caribbean in June 2022 to celebrate his son’s birthday. While there, he gave him an Apple Watch and got one for himself. Brick went scuba diving twice a day and never took his Apple Watch off, which is understandable since it is certified water-resistant to 50 meters. But one day, he noticed his Apple Watch was missing from his wrist.
More than a year later, Brick turned on Apple’s Find My feature to report the Apple Watch as lost. In December, an unknown person (who he later learned was named Jonathan) left a voicemail from the area, saying he had his smartwatch. And here’s the surprise: The Apple Watch worked, and Find My even displayed the owner’s number. He sent the device to Brick, who confirmed that his watch was in perfect working order. He thanked Jonathan for visiting him and returning his watch, and he also thanked Apple for having excellent, working technology if it had survived more than a year at the bottom of the ocean. And it certainly wasn’t fifty meters down…
It’s always nice to hear when a product is more durable than the manufacturer advertises. There have been products like this in the past (the Nintendo Game Boy is a great example), so it’s not a new topic.
