Fallout: London Is Finally Out – Here’s Where to Get It for Free! [VIDEO]

Fallout: London is finally available and offers as much content as a new RPG in the series…

Independent development is complex. Especially when it comes to huge mods made by fans with all their heart and soul at their own expense. The development team behind Fallout: London, Fallout 4’s biggest mod, worked on the project for five years. Finally, after more complications and some delay, the circle was closed. After many tweaks, the development team confirmed that Fallout: London arrived yesterday, July 25.

The mod is now available for download via GOG Games.

As Inverse quotes the developers, the mod was able to appear on time “in the absence of nuclear war”. As always, there was a bit of black humour from the development team, Team FOLON, who already assured us last week that if the release did not go well and was poorly received, they would disappear for good. Yesterday, just to be safe, we also received a launch trailer, which you can view at the end of the article.

The mod’s career went as expected until April this year. Thanks to the excellent Amazon series based on Bethesda’s license, the saga was booming, and the team was preparing to release the mod. But it ran into the arrival of the next-gen patch. As this would have modified the game’s data, they were forced to delay the mod at the last minute and indefinitely in search of a solution. They couldn’t find a solution in the end.

In this case, because of the mod, we have to switch back to the original version of Fallout 4, thus bypassing the improvements of the next-gen version. Anyway, the team made their own software for the mod. However, it is also worth freeing up some space on the hard drive because London is not exactly small. One of the problems with getting the mod to some platforms was that in addition to the game’s 30GB storage requirement, the mod itself also requires 30GB of storage…

The Epic Games version of the game will not be able to run Fallout: London

Unfortunately, the release of Fallout: London is not perfect. FOLON had to make certain concessions in order to publish their development. In this case, the Epic Games Store version of Fallout 4 will not work with the mod. The problem can be linked to Tim Sweeney’s own platform, which prevents him from manually “downgrading” – restoring to a previous update level – the versions of the released games. Thus, it is impossible to install the game without the next-gen update.
