Frost Giant Studios expects the Stormgate Early Access phase to last at least a year…
Many fans of real-time strategy experiences have one game in particular in mind right now: Stormgate. It’s a classic style RTS whose developer, Frost Giant Studios, was founded by the legendary Tim Morten (Production Manager of StarCraft II: Legacy of Void) and Tim Campbell (Lead Campaign Designer of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne). Best of all, you won’t have to wait long to see how the title performs in the market.
Stormgate Early Access starts today, July 30, on Steam.
In a sci-fi/fantasy world, Frost Giant Studios tries to involve players in a long war between three different factions: the iron-hatted Human Vanguard, the cruel Infernal Host, or the highly advanced Celestial Armada. The three playable nations are different enough to allow for multiplayer in 3 vs. 3 modes. In this, as the developers put it, “each step can have negative or positive consequences for each user.”
As usual with classic RTS, you can expect the experience of fighting and managing for survival with unique items and weapons. With mechanics such as skill development and stage control, complemented by an early access editor, fans of strategy games have an excellent reason to invest several hours into what promises to be spectacular battles in Stormgate.
Could Stormgate get a one-year Early Access period?!
As is customary with such developments, Stormgate’s early access to Steam will allow players to provide constructive feedback on the development of the RTS. Frost Giant Studios already has a reasonably accurate idea of how long this phase will last: “Our vision is for it to last at least a year, but changes may happen. As development progresses, we’ll decide what’s best for our title and players.” In any case, starting today, we have the opportunity to see how the game experience will develop in the first public version.
