MOVIE NEWS – Luke Evans and the Taiwanese Transporter meet in the trailer of Weekend in Taipei…
Weekend in Taipei will be released in American theatres on November 1, 2024, by Ketchup Entertainment. Luke Evans, Sung Kang, Lun-Mei Gwei and Wyatt Yang star in the film produced by George Huang and co-written by Luc Besson.
The official synopsis reads:
“John Lawlor (Luke Evans) is a pit-bull DEA agent married to his job – there’s not a bad guy he can’t stop, nothing he won’t sacrifice to close out a case. Joey Kang is a top “Transporter” in Taipei – fast-driving and fast-thinking, she’s difficult to pin down, impossible to catch. The two of them weren’t supposed to fall in love, but fate brought them together… before forces of crime and corruption tore them apart. Now, 15 years later, fate puts Joey and John on a collision course during a weekend in Taipei. And the two will discover that the only thing harder than falling in love… is falling back in love.”
The original working title was “Weekend Escape Project”, but the title was changed when the plot moved to Taipei – directed by a Taiwanese-American filmmaker and starring a Taiwanese actress. Ketchup Entertainment has been on a winning streak over the past couple of years. Aside from Weekend In Taipei, for whom they are the U.S. distributors, the distribution company is also attached to titles like Berlin Film Festival standout Memory and Michael Mann’s Ferrari.
