EA has announced yesterday a spanking new Battlefield title called Battlefield Hardline. However, unlike other Battlefield games, Hardline will be a smaller, more tactical game, focusing on infantry combat. A bit like some unknown, never-heard-off game, called Counter-Strike. The game is developed by Visceral Games, and will be released on the PlayStation 4 and other platforms this fall.
Battlefield Hardlines takes several ideas from Counter-Strike, where one team plays as the cops, while the other team play as the bad guys (either as bank robbers, terrorists, etc.) The game will have both a singleplayer and a multiplayer mode. In multiplayer, the two teams will battle each other in urban settings, such as a bank, a museum, car dealership, and more.
EA will fully reveal Battlefield Hardlines at E3 on June 9th, but several details have already leaked. A leaked screenshot shows that players will be able to purchase weapons before each round just like in Counter-Strike, and some of the game modes include hostage rescue and bank robberies.
While developer DICE is still struggling to get Battlefield 4 to be working properly, they helped development on Hardlies. We don’t know what EA’s strategy is here — releasing a brand new Battlefield game while the previous one is still not working properly might not be welcomed by fans of the series.
After your experience with Battlefield 4 on the PS4, would you buy the new Battlefield Hardlines?
